MojiTax says this is "the week to commit". Here is the deadline math behind it
Every Monday we take the latest from MojiTax, the company that owns this blog, and read it in plain terms for candidates. This week MojiTax published a note with a blunt title, that if international tax is your career move, this is the week to commit. It is the kind of line that can read as a nudge to enrol, so it is worth pulling apart to see what is actually driving it, because underneath the phrasing there is a real calendar problem and it is not the same for every exam.
What the note is really pointing at
Strip out the encouragement and two things sit underneath. The first is a cluster of registration and entry cut-offs that fall across the back end of August and into early September, the ones that decide whether you sit this winter rather than next year. Miss the entry window for a December ADIT module and the exam does not move closer, your sitting moves back by a season. That is the honest reason a week can matter, not urgency for its own sake, but the fact that a missed administrative date costs you months.
The second thing underneath is the EA. The IRS has postponed international Enrolled Agent scheduling and testing, the opening that was due on the first and second of September, with no new date yet and extra carryover time for people already part way through. MojiTax has also cancelled its 29 August session on sitting the EA from abroad, because the thing it was preparing people for has been pushed back. So for international EA candidates this is precisely not the week to rush anything, the door is closed until the IRS reopens it.
The move the postponement quietly hands you
Put those two together and the useful read is not simply commit, it is reallocate. The EA delay frees the weeks you would have spent racing a 1 September clock. The exams with live deadlines right now are the CIOT ones, ADIT, CTA and the Pillar Two Award, where a December sitting depends on getting registered and entered in the next few weeks. If you were splitting attention between an EA booking and an ADIT entry, the postponement makes the choice for you for now, the ADIT deadline is the one that is actually ticking.
What to check this week
- ADIT December entry. If you plan to sit in December, confirm the registration and entry deadline on the CIOT ADIT pages and get it done, this is the date that gates your winter sitting.
- CTA and Pillar Two. Check the relevant CIOT cut-offs for your next sitting on the CIOT site rather than assuming you have time.
- EA, do not rush. International scheduling is postponed with no new date. If you hold a partial pass, you get carryover time. Watch the IRS Enrolled Agent News page for the reopening.
- Confirm on the source. Dates change, so verify each one on the awarding body's own portal before you rely on it.
The credibility line, in MojiTax's own words
The note also carries a results claim worth repeating plainly, since it is MojiTax speaking about its own students. MojiTax says the June session brought at least 125 of its candidates a pass across ADIT and the Pillar Two Award, and that more than 25 of those were distinctions. Take it as the provider's own figure, but it is the sort of number that tells you the material holds up under a real exam, which is the only test that counts.
One genuinely useful free thing in the note, whatever you decide about courses, is a CIOT live event on 12 September, the ADIT Extended Essay explained, with the CIOT's Rory Clarke. If the Extended Essay route is on your radar, an hour straight from the awarding body is worth the diary space.
